And now the news...

ARulesXL 4 -- free runtimes, enterprise licensing

ARulesXL 4 removes runtime licensing, hardwired security constraints, and long keys.

The download serves as a runtime for any ARulesXL spreadsheet, but any user can also simply redistribute the add-in parts of the system as a runtime along with any spreadsheet holding rules. The runtime does not allow creating or editting of rules.

This means the download also serves as an evaluation copy. You can use it to run all of the samples and read all of the documentation.

ARulesXL 4 is, in addition to individual licenses, available in enterprise licenses. An enterprise can purchase either a binary or a source license. http://www.arulesxl.com/download .

WARNING! If you get a renewal notice that takes you to an old ARulesXL 3 order page, don't do it! Go to the new download page mentioned above. (If you do use the old link, let us know and we'll fix the order for you.)

ARulesXL User Stories

Two recent reports from ARulesXL users.

One is an application we helped develop that lets a manufacturing company create the packing and shipping kits of their product necessary for distribution to large networks of retail stores. ARulesXL allowed for the automation of what was previously a tedious, error-prone, manual task. The ability to put the rules for distribution in the spreadsheet as executable code was the key to making the application possible.

The other is an application that handles invoices for a medical facility. It reasons over 6,000 visits a day and any concerns the user had on performance have evaporated. As in the previous story, ARulesXL allowed for the automation of rules and decision tables that previously required extensive manual intervention. The result is a reduction of cost of $0.80 per invoice to $0.03 per invoice.

Amzi! 8, Education

As mentioned in the last newsletter, Amzi! 8 is available for educational institution wide licenses, allowing all students and faculty to have full access to the Professional Edition of Amzi! Prolog + Logic Server. Purchase one now for the fall semester! http://www.amzi.com/download .

Video Training

Two new videos are available that show how to get started with Eclipse and Amzi! Prolog + Logic Server. They walk the user through initial project creation and beginning use of the source code debugger.

Let us know how you like them, and which ones you would like to see next. http://www.amzi.com/company/contact.htm .

HAPPY REASONING,
